Description:
The role sits within the Disability Services team which is part of the wider Student Service department. Through this team and the Student Hub, we are streamlining access to support for students, delivering a service that allows students to receive specialist advice and skills, which is easy to find and access, both online and on campus. Supporting disabled students is a key priority for the University and we are focused on providing support throughout the student journey to ensure successful academic outcomes. You will be responsible for managing the delivery and development of the Disability Services team, in providing high quality guidance and advice to students and staff at the University. The role will manage a small caseload of disabled students and maintain an excellent relationship with the Faculties and other departments regarding the dissemination and implementation of disability-related support and development of inclusive practice. You will ensures students and University staff receive responsive, accurate and clear advice both digitally and in-person in relation to queries about support for disabled students. We are looking for someone with significant experience of supporting disabled students to lead our Disability Services team within Student Services. You will have knowledge of disabilities in a higher education context, ideally with a professional qualification relevant to disabilities, and you will be passionate about using technology to enhance a service offering, with experience of developing a service and a commitment to evaluating services and work practices to ensure continuous improvement. You will be line managing a team of Disability Advisors and Specialist Study Skills Advisors so experience of leading and motivating a team is essential. You will also be expected to lead on projects and manage a case load so the ability to self-manage and prioritise is crucial. The past 24 months have seen the University redesign our student support and administration services, through creating a new 'Academic Registry' department. As part of establishing this new directorate, we are excited to be reshaping student support services, including a new Student Advice and Hub team which comprises of Disability Services, Specialist Study Skills, International Student Advice, Student Funding Advice and our front-of-house Student Hub.
