The Head of Architecture & Design plays a key role in structuring the enterprise in terms of its business, data, application, and technical architectures. This person aligns strategic goals and objectives with decisions regarding products and services, partners and suppliers, organisation, capabilities, and key business and IT initiatives. The primary focuses are the University Strategic Framework and Digital Strategy, business operations, data governance and technical frameworks and related processes that link these aspects of the enterprise together. The Head of Architecture & Design works to develop an integrated view of the enterprise using a repeatable approach, cohesive framework, and available industry standard techniques. The Head of Architecture & Design reports to the Director of IT Services to align technical solutions with business needs. The post is planned to have supervisory responsibility for the Architecture function once it is embedded. In addition, the Head of Architecture & Design works with others at all levels of the organisation analysing strategic imperatives from senior leaders and supporting managers as they leverage business plans. Finally, the Head of Architecture & Design provides direct input into the governance cycle that supports the achievement of key goals, planning and execution of strategic initiatives or programmes, and delivery of bottom-line business value. You will have a degree (or equivalent qualifications or relevant professional experience). The University is a multi-layered and multi-stakeholder setting and as such, you must be able to demonstrate excellent professional judgement and insight and have the ability to influence strategic direction.
