Summary
Assumes primary responsibility for coordinating and
facilitating comprehensive care delivery in all clinical areas during a
designated shift. Serves as in-house
administration after business hours and on weekends/holidays. Provides crisis
intervention and Access Department coverage after hours. Assumes delegated nursing administrative
responsibilities in the absence of the Director. Supports a professional practice philosophy
within a shared governance system that supports the hospital mission and

Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible
for the coordination and support of patient activity and safe practices in all
clinical areas on the designated shift.Responsible
for accepting and placing all admissions on the designated shift. All hospital EMTALA transfer requests are coordinated
by the House Manager in collaboration with the on-call psychiatrist.Conducts
EMTALA Medical Screening assessments on assigned shift.Responsible
for facilitating unit triaging during times of peak census. When high census contingency plans are
imminent, coordinates decisions with Director, Medical Director, or Administrator
on-call as appropriate.Supervises
emergency situations, providing direction, support and assistance as necessary
toward problem resolution.Coordinates
daily staffing adjustments to maintain safe and effective care. Works with Nursing Services Manager to
resolve assignment issues.Serves
as a resource to physicians when issues arise.
Answers staff questions regarding medical staff privileging when needed.Provides
1:1 assessments for seclusion and restraint episodes in the absence of the
independent practitioner.Serves
in a patient/family advocacy role when issues are identified.Responds
to high risk situations, takes on-site action, and communicates with Director
or Administrator on-call in a timely manner.

Qualifications
Education:
Graduation from a
school of nursing acknowledged by the State of NE Department of Human
Services, Division of Regulation Licensure.
Licensure:
Active NE (or
multi-state compact) Registered Nurse license.Individual is
responsible to maintain active license.BLS required upon
hireAggression
Management Training within 3 months of employment.Certification in
specialty area preferred.
Experience:
One year prior
nursing experience in a behavioral health care setting. Supervisory or
management experience preferred.
Professionalism/Growth:
Must have
knowledge of nursing management skills including leadership, information
processing, conflict resolution, critical thinking, and decision making.Must have
knowledge and understanding of nursing process and interdisciplinary team
approach to patient care.Must possess
current technical competence related to emergency medical procedures and
clinical nursing skills performance.Ability to see and
hear in order to perform assessment duties.Must possess
interpersonal skills to effectively work with employees, physicians,
visitors and guests in routine and difficult situations.Ability to
prioritize and organize work.
