Assistant Director
in the
Griz Card Center
. This position plays a critical role to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. main campus, Missoula College, and UM-Western campus in regards to the campus card program, door security and identification management system. The Assistant Director provides leadership and oversight to personnel and day-to-day operations in the Griz Card Center. This position is responsible for improving the student experience by developing new, innovative ways to leverage technology related to the campus card program to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
The Assistant Director will oversee and set priorities to maintain an efficient departmental workflow and prioritize and assign workloads to supervised staff members. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Associate Director of Operations and directly supervises both student employees and classified employees, including decision-making authority regarding performance, pay, goal setting, and employment relationship matters.
The Assistant Director serves as the system administrator for the Transact, Sequoia, and Orbital Shift software systems. The Assistant Director is responsible for negotiating and writing agreements for service levels and fees for departments using the campus card system. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the network of authorized door contacts; working interdepartmentally to establish and support processes and policies to enhance campus wide security leveraging the Griz Card system. This position also serves in a consulting role for other campuses on the Transact system regarding point-of-sale implementation, door security policies and procedures, and campus card identification best practices.
The Assistant Director is responsible for planning, scheduling, communicating, and managing system and software upgrades; testing, coordinating and implementing new software systems and hardware; creating and setting up testing environments for departments; initiating data feeds for various functions; resolving compatibility issues; completing manual system processes; and coordinating the ordering, installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic card reading devices, associated peripheral equipment, communications lines, and equipment.
This position acts as an advocate; and is responsible for fostering and maintaining effective relationships with campus departments and the at-large Missoula community to manage campus card program growth and service enhancements; and adapting to evolving needs of students and other constituents to support institutional and departmental priorities, vision, mission, and goals. The Assistant Director also serves as the primary on-call person for all of campus in regards to door security and alarms attached to the Griz Card System. This may include the ability to work off-hours when needed as scheduled or in emergency situations, take after hours troubleshooting calls, and travel to different campuses for site visits.
In addition, the Assistant Director will:
Oversee daily and monthly reconciling procedures
Manage budget development and analysis
Manage summer conference card needs
Oversee the Griz Card Center website, marketing, and communication materials
Research and respond accordingly to current trends in campus card industry
Develop a quality assessment cycle including planning, development, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of results

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

Salary for this position is $52,000 - $58,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.
Required Skills
Knowledge of database integrations, report writing and data analysis or equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration, Information Systems, or related field
Three to five (3 – 5) years of experience working in governmental accounting and/or local school district finance.
At least five (5) 5 years of experience in Campus Card Office operations and/or technologies
Experience managing cash registers, point-of-sale systems, and/or card swipe hardware
Experience in Higher education card services or related area
Working knowledge of: client/server network environment, web technology, and microcomputer hardware maintenance
Experience with industry standards and assessment of card programs
Experience in project management and application of various project management strategies and software
Demonstrated commitment to innovation and use of technology to improve campus community experience
Understanding of mobile and wearable technology in relation to a campus card program
Ability to identify and resolve day-to-day identification card system and point-of-sale system problems
Thorough understanding of campus policies and procedures related to human resources, IT, purchasing, and accounts payable/receivable
Thorough understanding of FERPA
Blackboard Transact Administrator certification
