JOB OVERVIEW
A full timePost Doc Fellow position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Nives Zimmermann in the Department of Pathology & Lab Medicine at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. College of Medicine.
The research in the Zimmermann lab concentrates on eosinophilic diseases, which include allergic diseases such as asthma, as well as parasitic infestation, eosinophilic gastrointestinal diseases and rare eosinophilic leukemias. Eosinophils can be present in some tissues with no ill effects, while at other times or in other tissues they cause serious damage. The lab's goal is to learn the mechanisms that cause this damage. We use a spectrum of approaches, from in vitro cell biology and immunology, mouse modeling to patient-centered studies. The candidate will be provided with mentoring to support development as an independent investigator if desired.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Conceives, organizes, executes, and controls laboratory projects and research studies. *Serves as mentor and role model to junior staff. *May coordinate work of technicians and other support staff. *Organizes and executes complex and varied experimental activities. *Develops set-up, verifies new procedures, and modified current experiments in the laboratory. *Evaluates innovative techniques. *Designs complex data processing systems to analyze research data. *Researches project/study approach options and plans best course of action. *Ensures timeliness and integrity of research. *Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results. *Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing. *Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise. *Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies, as needed. *Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities. *Perform related duties based on departmental need. REQUIRED EDUCATION
Doctoral Degree, or the foreign equivalent, in pathobiology, immunology or a related field.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
