invites applications for the
Director of the Franke Global Leadership Initiative
to join their team. Reporting to the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs, this position is responsible for the oversight, direction, and development of all aspects of the Franke Global Leadership Initiative (GLI), a program designed to give graduates the more comprehensive understanding and broader perspective needed to address global issues and to develop leadership skills to succeed in the future. The Director provides effective leadership to this signature UM undergraduate program. This position oversees the management of all human and financial resources designated to the Franke GLI’s programmatic and student success initiatives, ensuring that all resources are allocated effectively and in a manner that will optimize the potential to achieve the program’s stated objectives. The Director engages in wide-ranging efforts designed to enhance the connectivity between the Franke GLI and other leadership, academic affairs, and student success activities (including curricular innovations, advising, experiential learning opportunities, student career development, leadership experiences, etc.)
The Director is a visible campus presence, who will utilize a highly developed set of interpersonal communication skills to encourage collaboration and innovation in the development and administering of programs aimed at sustaining and growing the Franke GLI. In order to meet the expectations of this position, the Director will carry out the following duties and responsibilities:
Develop, implement, oversee and administer program activities.
Formulate successful recruitment and retention plans for the program.
Ensure that the Franke GLI consistently generates measurable results and that these results are communicated to academic administrators and donors.
Serve as an effective advocate for GLI students and offer outstanding advising (using best practices and tools).
Regularly and effectively communicate the accomplishments of students in the Franke GLI to a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
Actively engage in University initiatives aimed at enhancing student outcomes and UM’s undergraduate offerings.
Provide supervision and visionary leadership to Franke GLI employees.
Maintain ample availability and provide easily accessible channels to address the concerns of Franke GLI students.
Ensure that all Franke GLI resources are utilized in a judicious manner, including consistent review of expenses, the preparation of numerous periodic reports, and the development and maintenance of a budget.
Serve as an active member of University leadership teams and committees.
Lead and manage the Franke GLI Board and its subcommittees
Provide thought leadership on interdisciplinary undergraduate education at the local and regional levels.
Participate in the national discourse on innovations in undergraduate experiential learning.
Build productive relationships with campus departments and form collaborative partnerships with faculty members to develop new course offerings and other experiential learning opportunities for Franke GLI students.

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

Salary for this position is $70,000-$75,000 per year commensurate with qualifications.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years experience.
Working knowledge of current best practices in effective interdisciplinary learning, student success, retention, and experiential learning programs; and a demonstrated ability to implement and administer programs geared toward undergraduate learning experiences.
Ability to comprehensively collect, analyze, and assess quantitative and qualitative data related to specific desired outcomes and program effectiveness, and to work collaboratively with the Institutional Research to achieve assessment/research goals.
Highly developed communication skills (including verbal, written, and interpersonal skills) and ability to represent the Franke GLI to internal and external constituents.
Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment, fostering and developing working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders throughout the academic community.
Considerable senior leadership skills demonstrating exceptional interpersonal, communication, management, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the diverse populations on a university campus and the ability to successfully address the various needs and issues presented by a diverse student population.
Ability to remain highly functional and productive while working in a time-sensitive, deadline-driven environment.
Documented skills in administering academic policy and knowledge and understanding of University and college curricula.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a higher education setting focused upon either academic enrichment, international education, student success, or another related area.
