JOB SUMMARY
The Office of the Registrar is seeking an Assistant Registrar for Degree Auditing who will be responsible for the Degree Auditing and NCAA Certification section of the Registrar's Office. Under the direction of the Associate Registrar, manages the Degree Auditing and NCAA certification section of the Registrar's Office. The incumbent will supervise staff tasked with the auditing and conferral of degrees, distribution of diplomas, and NCAA academic certification for the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. They will serve as the primary liaison with other offices and groups across campus responsible for resolving issues related to degree auditing and NCAA certification. They will serve on and lead cross-divisional committees comprised of University officials of all levels. They will be expected to create and enforce University policy in accordance with University bylaws as well as state and federal statutes. Finally, they will be tasked with ensuring that the Registrar's office adheres to the highest standards of customer service.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for staff management of the Degree Auditing section of the Registrar's office. This includes hiring, training, and development; workflow and performance management; and the promotion of an inclusive and innovative work environment.
Ensures proper daily functioning of the Degree Auditing section. This includes assigning work duties, monitoring progress, providing excellent customer service, and working with the advising community at UConn to ensure accurate degree conferral, diploma generation, and NCAA academic eligibility determination.
Serves as a resource, subject matter expert, and point of escalation for students, faculty, and administrators for questions, interpretations, and clarifications for all matters related to degree requirements and conferrals.
Interprets and explains Office of the Registrar policies and procedures, with specific emphasis on degree audit functions, responds to inquiries for information, and makes referrals to other University offices as necessary.
Coordinates with all sections of the Registrar's Office to review the effectiveness and efficiency of all Registrar's office practices, policies, and procedures.
Develops and conducts training, programs and workshops for faculty, staff, and administration covering a wide range of technical applications and processes.
Organizes and facilitates the maintenance of student records related to graduation, degree conferrals, and NCAA academic eligibility and certification.
Compiles student data and verifies for accuracy and completeness related to graduation and NCAA certification. Generates statistics and prepares and/or presents reports.
Administers and oversees complex projects and the associated relationships.
Serves as a resource to the University community regarding university-wide academic/administrative systems.
Represents the Office and the Registrar function on various campus and university-wide committees, task forces, meetings and serves as an active participant in shared governance.
Oversees and enforces compliance with University policy and by-laws, state and federal regulatory guidance and legislation, and regional accreditation requirements.
Evaluates effectiveness of existing policies and procedures and recommends changes. Manages the implementation of new initiatives, requiring coordination among staff and across University offices.
Identifies and suggests strategies to manage and mitigate risk.
Participates in professional and technical conferences and workshops.
Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related field and five years of related experience, including at least one year serving in an advanced capacity
Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume, customer service setting with diverse groups in a project team setting
Evidence of wide-ranging skills in such areas as planning, leadership, communication, and administration
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to establish rapport with students and parents and to maintain effective working relationships with faculty and staff
Ability to pay attention to detail, work within deadlines and make decisions
Demonstrated administrative, organizational, and problem-solving aptitude
Familiarity with electronic data processing
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
6 to 7 years of related experience
Previous higher education experience at a large university
Demonstrated knowledge of recordkeeping systems and ability to be precise with quantitative data
Experience with a student information system (Peoplesoft preferred) or another large database, scanning software
Ability to read, interpret and assist in creating policies
Working knowledge of NCAA certification process
