The School of Society and Culture is looking for exceptional individuals to deliver teaching and research in Criminology. You will join a dynamic, friendly and supportive team, and will work in an energetic multidisciplinary environment that combines Anthropology, Criminology and Sociology and provides many opportunities to develop innovate teaching and research across disciplinary boundaries. The subjects comprising the School of Society and Culture have a reputation for research of national and international excellence and consistently gain top NSS results. The role involves designing and delivering exciting courses in our world-class BSc (Hons) Professional Policing programme and postgraduate taught and research programmes. You will additionally participate in student assessment. The ideal candidates will have, or be close to achieving a PhD in Criminology, or cognate discipline, with proven experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. We welcome applications from exceptional scholars whose research and teaching interests complement and expand the School of Society and Culture’s, in any field of Professional Policing. We are particularly interested to hear from anyone with an interest in cybercrime, Public Protection and managing vulnerability, suspect interviewing, forensics. However, all applied forensic and investigative backgrounds will receive full consideration as you will be designing scenarios for use in our new, state of the art, policing lab creating crime scene management, suspect interviewing and multiagency major incident silver command simulation exercises. You will therefore also be skilled in the use of a wide range of social scientific research techniques, especially ethnography and participant observation.
