The Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics (EEE) is offering an exciting opportunity to gain experience of university teaching in a research-informed environment. We welcome applications from people with a broad background in electrical engineering and electronics, and especially from candidates with interests in embedded electronics and robotics. The post will suit individuals looking to gain valuable experience in delivering University-level teaching activities at the same time as studying for a PhD. As part of this package, part-time PhD tuition fees for five years, at UK fee level will also be paid by the Department. Due to the nature of this opportunity the position is only open to those that do not already hold a PhD degree, and are able to start on or before 1st October 2023.
In addition to your application for the post, you are also required to apply for a PhD project through our PhD application website, once a programme of research has been agreed. Your PhD application must be submitted alongside your application for the post. To support the development of your research programme you are strongly encouraged to seek out and engage with academic staff within the department who could potentially supervise your proposed research: ****This post is available on a part-time, fixed-term basis for 5 years. You must be able to prove your eligibility to work in the UK for the duration of the tenure, which will unfortunately preclude anyone wishing to work on a graduate visa, as these are only for 3 years. Due to the part time nature of this role, the salary will fall below the minimum threshold required for a Skilled Worker Visa.
The School of Electrical Engineering Electronics and Computer Science is an Athena Swan Bronze award holder and is committed to encouraging, developing and supporting individuals in their research and academic careers. A diverse and inclusive working environment must be an integral part of our society, giving everyone the opportunity to participate and to benefit. Thus, we welcome applications from all sectors of the community.
As part of our commitments to increase diversity and inclusivity within our school, we particularly welcome applications from women, people who identify as an ethnic minority, people with disabilities and people from LGBTQ communities, as they are currently under-represented in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Electronics.
The University has the right to close the vacancy early if it is deemed that there have been enough applications received
