The Assistant/Associate Dean for Admissions and Special Programs at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. College of Medicine is responsible for developing and implementing strategic recruitment and enrollment initiatives that support the entrance of a diverse group of medical students who exhibit evidence of academic excellence, integrity and compassion. 
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 

MANAGE OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS & SPECIAL PROGRAMS

*Oversight of budget & operations for the Office of Admissions & Special Programs *Hire, supervise & manage personnel *Assist with creation of Special Recruitment Programs policies & procedures, supervise the program leaders & monitor program performance
 

REPORT ADMISSIONS DATA TO NATIONAL & COLLEGE OF MEDICINE (COM) OFFICES, AS WELL AS STAY APPRISED OF COLLEGE NATIONAL ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS, POLICIES & PROCEDURES

*Ensure compliance with UCCOM & national admissions policies & procedures, including federal & state regulations & LCME accreditation st&ards, to admit students into the MD & MD/PhD programs. *Coordinate the use of the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) for applications annually *Prepare & update admissions data & information for the LCME Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) process *Engage in continuous quality improvement processes & data analyses that provide guidance for short & long-term programmatic goals & result in the achievement of measurable outcomes *Prepare reports for COM senior officials & for regional & national agencies including data used for statewide & national comparisons of medical schools, i.e. U.S. News & World Reports
 

OVERSIGHT OF THE COM ADMISSIONS PROCESS & ON-BOARDING OF MEDICAL STUDENTS

*Management of recruitment efforts & pipeline programs *Development, administration, & oversight of application policy & procedures *Screen applications for interviews, & oversee/manage interview day *Oversee Admissions committees *Consideration of transfer applicants  *Management of Second Look events & Alternative List selections when necessary *Ensure compliance of accepted students with matriculation requirements  *Participate in M1 Orientation week
STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS
*Participate in scholarship decisions for students accepted into the medical school *Collaborate with the Office of Financial Services & Office of Diversity to allocate available scholarship funds *Work with Educational Affairs leadership in selection & allocation of scholarships for specific programs
 

SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES

*Maintain robust scholarly activities including publications in peer-reviewed journals, poster & oral presentations at regional & national meetings 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
*Professional degree: EdD, PhD, or MD *Exact rank will be commensurate with overall academic experience *Minimum of 5 years admissions experience
 

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED
*Managerial experience in a university, especially in a COM *Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience providing oral presentations *Demonstrated interpersonal skills advising students on complex and confidential matters *Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks *Ability to work independently and collaboratively *Experience providing feedback to staff/team on performance and conducting annual performance reviews *Commitment to mentoring and developing staff and students *Experience with utilizing and coordinating Multiple Mini Interviews for applicants *Strong knowledge and experience with MS Office, student database systems and other online software to perform data analyses that guide recruitment and admissions strategies
