Are you a Physician Associate, or healthcare professional passionate about education and wishing to develop your academic skills? The Peninsula Medical School is looking to recruit a part-time lecturer to the position of Lecturer in Clinical Education (Physician Associate Studies) to join the experienced programme team at the University of Plymouth. Based in the Faculty of Health, the Peninsula Medical School is committed to three core aims: outstanding clinical education; strong social engagement; and world-class research which all feature strongly in the student learning experience. A key strength is a close relationship with NHS partners, with early clinical contact for all students. The South West offers healthcare and learning opportunities of exceptional quality; Derriford is one of Europe’s largest hospitals and the only trauma centre in Devon and Cornwall. A further strength is our scholarly approach to education, supported by the Division of Education Scholarship. The Plymouth Institute of Health and Care Research is the core of research activity, providing a thriving community that conducts adventurous world-leading research with the explicit purpose of improving the health and care of the populations we serve. This post would be appropriate if you are a qualified Physician Associate or a healthcare professional. You will be highly motivated and passionate about developing a career in clinical education and will have an interest in developing yourself in an academic role. As a lecturer on the MSc Physician Associate Studies, you will work in conjunction with colleagues in the Medical School on the design, development and delivery of teaching and learning across the Physician Associate Studies (PA) Programme. There are also opportunities to develop your own academic knowledge and skills. You will hold a Postgraduate Diploma/MSc in Physician Associate Studies, or medical/nursing degree or equivalent and ideally have a minimum of 2 years clinical experience. A postgraduate qualification in education/teaching is desirable and experience of working in healthcare in a clinical and/or education role is essential. You will have experience of working with Physician Associate or other healthcare students, and have the ability to enhance the student learning experience through varied pedagogic innovation including digital delivery as appropriate. The Peninsula Medical School has an established reputation for its clinical education. The Physician Associate programme, which is delivered within the Medical School, is an established programme with an exceptional record of graduate success at the National Examination. You would be joining an established and experienced team of clinical and non-clinical academics involved in delivery of the programme, working across both the city centre and Derriford campuses to support students in a variety of teaching environments.
