Primary school teachers are supervised by the head of the primary school. They are ultimately responsible to the principal As well as the requirements outlined in his/her individual appointment terms and conditions of service, each primary school teacher has the following specific responsibilities. In addition, he/she is expected to undertake any other reasonable task assigned by the head of the primary school or the principal.Duties and Responsibilities:Maintaining a personal and professional commitment to the school's core values, as expressed in its statement of philosophy maintaining professional ethical standards in all areas, particularly confidentialityAssisting the head of the primary school and the PYP coordinator in effectively communicating to parentsTo participate in the design, development, implementation and review of assessment and reporting systemSupporting the school's implementation of appropriate practice in the primary years of educationTo participate in professional development and contribute to regular staff training/meetingsWork collaboratively with others to develop effective professional relationshipsCommunicate effectively with parents with regard to pupils achievements and well-being using schoolMaintain ongoing data which gives evidence for report grading.Insure that daily practice represents the high standards of research supported instructionviewing students as thinkers with their own emerging theoriesBuilding on what students bring to the learning experience in the way of prior understanding, knowledge and skillsusing a variety of resources representing multiple perspectivesEmpowering students to feel responsible and to take actionDevoting extra time to students who may be struggling academically or who may need further challengingEnsuring that children with learning differences are provided with appropriate programmesDelivering the curriculum as relevant to the age and subjects that you teachTo enhance the professional standing of the teaching body.Being aware of students capabilities, their prior knowledge and planning teaching and differentiation as appropriate.Required qualifications/skillsThe position of PYP teacher requires that the successful candidate has:Teaching qualificationRelevant degreeExperience of the IB Primary Years Programmeproficiency in spoken EnglishDesired qualifications/skillsPrior experience at teaching the PYP, with a focus on early years education.Has experience teaching students phonics and learning to readHas received PYP focused professional developmentA high level of understanding of current research as to how children learn and possess the ability to motivate students to perform at their best.Have the ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload
