DescriptionThe Instructional Design Specialist (IDS) is a business partner supporting leadership and management development, skills-based development, various learning projects, and organizational development initiatives to promote the training and enhancement of all San Manuel employees. The IDS reports directly to the Learning and Development Manager and is responsible for the analysis, recommendation, design, development, maintenance, and quality assurance of online learning modules, live web-based training sessions, instructor-led training support materials, and other supporting materials as needed, following an instructional design process.The IDS uses strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video, and audio to communicate and educate our talent. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills, and competencies in an effective and appealing manner to support a high performance culture. The IDS works as an integral part of a consultative and collaborative talent development team responsible for the assessment, design, development, evaluation, and deployment of quality learning opportunities at San Manuel.Essential Duties & Responsibilities1. Creates engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhance employee success by working collaboratively with subject matter experts to identify target audience’s training needs.2. Applies tested instructional design theories, practice and methods to ensure learning objectives are met with the most appropriate and dynamic end products.3. Creates instructional graphics/job aides in support of enterprise projects.4. Conducts research both to improve training content and to stay up to date on current industry learning trends and practices.5. Defines, designs, and applies the criteria used to measure training effectiveness and develop content assessment instruments.6. Optimizes the training portfolio as specialized targeted courses are offered to managers and employees.7. Facilitates training as needed.8. Maintains project documentation and course folders.9. Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the departmentRequirementsEducation/Experience/QualificationsnBachelors Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, or related field required.nMinimum of three (3) years of solid instructional design and development experience in a corporate environment as an internal practitioner/business partner providing instructional design services utilizing ADDIE or equivalent instructional design methodologies.nEquivalent combination of education and progressive, relevant and direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational/experience requirements indicated above.nMastery of MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook) required.nDemonstrated success with a variety of training methods such as classroom training, on-the-job training, eLearning, workshops, virtual learning.nKnowledge of learning and development principles and practices, adult learning theory, curriculum design, needs assessment and evaluation methodology. Familiarity with current and emerging trends in learning design and development.nSolid knowledge of course development software (Articulate) and at least one Learning Management System (LMS).nVisual design skills (Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to storyboard.nAbility to write effective copy, instructional text, and audio scripts/video scripts using proper English language syntax and tone appropriate to the audience.nStrong cross-functional project management skills.nExperience with voice recordings and comfortable narrating content.nCertificates/Licenses/RegistrationsnCertified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD) certification, desired.nAt the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.nA qualified candidate/employee must have a valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the companys insurance carrier.nSan Manuel Band of Mission Indians and San Manuel Casino will make reasonable accommodations in compliance with applicable law.
