Job Summary
This is a two-year limited-term appointment. Continuation of employment will be contingent upon the availability of funding.
Reporting to the Director of the
EAGLES
program, the
EAGLES
Instruction Coordinator develops, implements, and evaluates student-focused instruction and services for the Education to Accomplish Growth in Life Experiences for Success (
EAGLES
) program. The
EAGLES
Instruction Coordinator will be responsible for instructing students with intellectual disabilities. This person will also coordinate, evaluate, and implement the personal/social program for all students in the
EAGLES
program.
Essential Functions
1. Teach-Develop and implement innovative instructional coursework with accompanying content and evaluate materials for
EAGLES
-specific courses and individual students based on individual needs, maintain grading system to demonstrate performance.
2. Collaborate and Train-Coordinates instruction for campus partners and groups who collaborate with the
EAGLES
program in the area of personal and social skills
3. Advises- Meets with
EAGLES
students regularly to define needs and supports and advises the first-year students using person-centered planning techniques, including developing comprehensive
LIFT
Plans and evaluation and assessment scores to track progress across the five domains of the program for the freshmen cohort.
4. Personal/Social Coordinator-Improves, develops and collaborates the personal/social skills domain of the
EAGLES
program for all
EAGLES
students who live both on and off-campus, including the role of facilitating and supporting
EAGLES
students through the application and interview process for campus organizations, assess student involvement with organizations - attendance, participation, organic friendships formed through organizations, and serve as the liaison between
EAGLES
and Student Affairs activities for the
EAGLES
students.
5. Networks and establishes positive relationships with organizations that meet the interest of
EAGLES
students and collaborate to collect data with the Auburn community, AU faculty, and staff for
EAGLES
program activities to help support
EAGLES
through all aspects of the program to help develop and maintain database and website-related to a specific activity, project or service for record-keeping and program enhancements, student performance, and communication between students, families, staff, and faculty.
6. Plans and Implements- the day-to-day activities for first-year students, tend to the needs of the students, helps students problem-solve when conflict arises or emergencies occur
7. Marketing and programmatic events-Assists in the development of marketing plans and publicity materials for distribution to the targeted audience and assist in the planning and implementation of
EAGLES
Program events (Interview experience for next cohort, Preview Days/Open House, Tail Gate, Fundraising events, etc.)
8. Assist with other program duties as assigned.

Minimum Skills and Abilities
-Knowledge of teaching and developing a transition program for students with intellectual disabilities.
-Knowledge in special education policies, laws, and current research trends in the field of transition and inclusive higher education programs.
-Knowledge in evidence based instructional strategies, successful parent involvement strategies, knowledge in planning community-based instructional lessons ( e.g., situational instruction, like laundry, grocery shopping, tiger transit, restaurant etiquette etc.).
-Knowledge in person centered planning, knowledge in record keeping, knowledge in developing strategies to collaborate with and coordinate peer mentors, knowledge in effective collaboration strategies, knowledge
in providing accommodations and supports for students with intellectual disabilities, knowledge in lesson planning, knowledge in developing task-analyses, knowledge in professional writing.
Minimum Technology Skills
Minimum License and Certifications
Class A teaching certificate in Collaborative Teacher Special Education. .
Desired Qualifications
Experience with job coaching; assistive technology; proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite; and excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; and knowledge of AU's policies and procedures.
