Job Description:
BASIC PURPOSE: Full time 12-month Professor of Practice in the PA Program and School of Health Professions responsible for supporting the Program Director in all aspects of academic leadership and administration within the department, including development of program goals and strategic direction, admissions, faculty recruitment and development, curriculum development and evaluation, and overall program evaluation. The Associate Program Director will play an integral role in the Program's accreditation preparation for the ARC-PA site visits. ==========================================================
ACCOUNTABILITIES: Specific Duties of the Associate Program Director
1. Assumes the role of the Program Director when the PD is absent from the program.
2. Assists the Program Director in the organization, administration, continuous and periodic review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of the program.
3. Assists the Program Director in the preparation of administrative reports as requested and assigned by the Program Director.
4. Assists the program Director in the planning, preparation, and completion of any ARC-PA required reports, to include the Self Study Report.
5. Teaches courses with which he/she has demonstrated competence and/or experience and as assigned by the Program Director.
6. Assists in development, review, and revision of the mission statement.
7. Reviews, assists in the development of, maintains, coordinates, and issues the Student Handbook annually. Advises the Program Director of any problems related to student behavior, academic performance, or professionalism.
8. Provides for ongoing faculty development and peer review.
9. Assists in the interview and selection of faculty members.
10. Chair of PA Program specific Committees and the annual Faculty Retreat. Duties of all PA Program Faculty and Staff
11. Attends all scheduled staff and faculty meetings.
12. Assists in other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
13. Provides academic advising for students.
14. Assists in the review of applications, conduction of interviews, and selection of students.
15. Participates in lab, small group, and simulation activities
16. Participates in University events as a representative of the PA Program and the School of Health Professions
17. Participates in events external to the program that increase awareness and reputation of the Assumption University PA Program
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Must possess and maintain NCCPA certification
* Must maintain an active state license to practice as a physician assistant
* Must have a Master's Degree in a health related discipline
* Must have 10 years of experience as a practicing PA
* Must be currently working as a PA
* Must have 5 years teaching experience, preferably in higher education
* Experience with ARC-PA Accreditation preferred
* Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the University as well as show respect for the Catholic and Assumptionist identity of Assumption University
