Serves as Senior Research Associate to the Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race & Ethnicity; Leads research on topics related to health disparities of various issues, from birth to the aged of diverse racial/ethnic backgrounds; may have a health specialty for line of research but must be knowledgeable of other health areas to partner inside and outside of Kirwan with other researchers. Manages and conducts quantitative research or mixed methods on a wide variety of race and ethnicity issues linked to health issues, such as education, health, housing, neighborhood conditions, food insecurity, and poverty; Leads and participates in various on-going and new projects in various geographic areas that the Institute performs; Leads and collaborates with external research partners (academic, non-profits, foundations) to perform research projects on various health topics; Collaborates with other staff and manages internally research projects, writing, editing and proofing of research publications and presentations.
Duties/Responsibilities
50% Manages and conducts quantitative research or mixed methods on a wide variety of race and ethnicity issues linked to health issues, such as education, health, housing, neighborhood conditions, food insecurity, and poverty.
20% Collaborates with other staff and manages internally research projects, writing, editing, and proofing of research publications and presentations.
15% Leads and participates in various on-going and new projects in various geographic areas that the Institute performs.
15% Leads and collaborates with external research partners (academic, non-profits, foundations) to perform research projects on various health topics.
Qualifications
Required:
Doctoral degree in public health, nursing, or related medical field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience must include advanced quantitative skills, using various data analysis tools, including SPSS, SAS, R, Stata. Preferred if knowledgeable about mixed method approach, including use of qualitative framework and software, such an NVIVO. Requires successful completion of a background check. A demonstrated commitment to and familiarity with racial & ethnic issues is expected.
Proposed salary range: $62,700-$83,600
