**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. marine energy research covers the engineering of all types of marine renewables and has an active team working on experimental, computational, and field survey research projects.
This role is an exciting opportunity to join the Marine Energy Engineering Centre of Excellence (MEECE) which will provide specialist knowledge, experience and capability for the benefit of the marine energy industry and is delivered by ORE Catapult and four universities. MEECE will provide a centre for collaboration through coordinated, joint-industry / cross-industry approaches, whilst disseminating lessons learned for future projects and improving industry productivity and effectiveness.
This role considers the understanding of thick aerofoils, used in the root section of wind turbines. Performance can be enhanced through flow control devices. It involves wind tunnel testing of aerofoil sections with various flow control devices.
Specific responsibilities:
• To undertake wind tunnel testing of aerofoil sections using pressure, force and Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) measurements.
• Analysis of data and development of flow control devices
Essential criteria:
• A Degree in aerospace/mechanical engineering or related field
• Experience of working in a wind tunnel environment and use of flow measurement equipment
• A commitment to sustainable development and solution of the climate crisis. (this is an essential criterion and should be explicitly mentioned in your application)
