This Fitness Coach contributes to the mission and vision of CHI Health by providing medically-based fitness and wellness programs to members of the facility, employees in the system, and the community. Additional responsibilities include assistance with equipment and member inquiries regarding equipment usage as well as supporting the entire staff in functioning as a multi-disciplinary team. Fitness Coaches are responsible for maintaining a safe exercise environment and completing tasks as assigned by the Operations Director and Team Lead. The Fitness Coach provides services which encompass the physical, behavioral and spiritual aspects of care, prevention of disease and conservation of health.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Design, implement and conduct fitness assessments, medically based and disease specific exercise programs, and related equipment orientations
Conduct preparation and delivery of group classes (behavior modification, group fitness, or education) as identified by member, employee or community needs.
Assist the Wellness Service Line’s interdisciplinary team in ongoing development of a comprehensive and functional wellness program for the clients; communicate regularly with all staff to ensure consistent, integrated and effective wellness care, compliance and success.
Responsible for safety and oversight of fitness floor; take ownership as a first responder in the event of emergent situations within the Wellness Centers
Clean and maintain equipment as assigned
Assist members with goal setting, action planning and execution of workout or wellness plans as indicated by physician prescription, fitness assessment, member need or otherwise
Serve as role model for patients, members, employees and the community by practicing healthy behaviors, including but not limited to, regular physical activity and consumption of fruits and vegetables.
Maintain as indicated ongoing communication with and evaluation of member’s progress with fitness program. Follow up with members through telephone calls, mail, electronic mail or face-to-face meetings to ensure ongoing engagement with wellness
Coordinates ongoing educational sessions for members; conduct orientations to services for prospective members or clients.','!*!QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience
1-3 Year Experience in Fitness or Related Field Preferred
Education/Licensure
College Degree required, Fitness or related field preferred
Certifications for personal training, group fitness or similar required from one or more of the following agencies:
NSCA
ACEAFAAACSM
BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Safety and Health Institute: CPR, PRO, must say “Professional Level-with AED”, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
