We are looking for an Administrative Officer to manage the administrative elements of two exciting interrelated initiatives. The first is an initiative to bring universities together to monitor and reduce their environmental impacts, the Nature-Positive Universities initiative. The second is an initiative to support conservationists and the public to feel positive about the future for conservation - Conservation Optimism.
You will be based within the Interdisciplinary Centre for Conservation Science in the Department of Biology. The Interdisciplinary Centre for Conservation Science (ICCS) is an academic research group working at the interface of social and ecological systems. The team uses a range of approaches to address key issues in current conservation and the underlying philosophy will be that in order to make.
You will have a varied, responsible and interesting role, entailing taking initiative and working as part of a team, with responsibilities ranging from engaging with other relevant initiatives around Oxford, supporting people working on the ground within our study sites and website maintenance, to events organisation, team management, project administration, and writing project briefing notes and reports.
The Nature-Positive Universities ( ****) initiative is a joint programme run by Oxford University and the United Nations Environment Programme. It aims to create a network of universities and their members around the world, who are working together to go on a journey towards lowering their environmental impacts. The programme is coordinated at Oxford, and we are running a student ambassadors programme as well as developing guidance materials for universities.
Conservation Optimism (conservationoptimism.org) is a global movement which aims to empower people from every walk of life to act for the future of nature. We share hopeful stories of people and nature, produce research and resources to help people communicate effectively about conservation, and connect individuals and organisations with opportunities to amplify their impact.
