Description:
The Research and Innovation Directorate plays a crucial role in supporting the University to secure funding for research across the breadth of the institution’s portfolio. This includes a diverse range of disciplines from the creative arts and business to environmental sciences and medicine. We work closely with academics from across the University in support of our ambitious institutional strategy around research excellence, with an aim to increase our research income significantly by 2030. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the heart of the delivery of our strategy. We are looking for an experienced, creative and enthusiastic individual to join our team with a track record of successfully supporting academics to secure Research Council and other research funding. You will lead an experienced and effective team as they help to develop collaborative bids for funding involving internal and external partners and stakeholders and initiate new projects in partnership with a range of regional organisations. Reporting directly to the Director of Research and Innovation, you will have a background in Higher Education or Research Councils, and a demonstrable ability to engage funders and stakeholders at a senior level. Experience of effective leadership and creating high performing teams will also be essential Exceptional communication skills are also essential, in particular the ability to facilitate discussions between academia and external partners, in the development of bids for funding.
