General Description of Position:
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) for Diversity, Equity and Belonging (DEB) helps provide vision, leadership, strategic planning, and implementation for DEB initiatives across the college statewide system. This position reports directly to the Vice President for Diversity, Equity & Belonging and will design, implement, and assess diversity and belonging initiatives to ensure alignment with the college’s strategic plan. The AVP will also provide appropriate support to campus diversity leadership and aid with Ivy Tech’s continued commitment to create a sustainable culture of Diversity, Equity and Belonging across the statewide system.
Major Responsibilities:
Operationalize the goals, vision, and strategic plan of the Office of Diversity Equity and Belonging
Assess needs, productivity and success relating to diversity, equity, belonging, for college faculty, staff, and students.
Implement and monitor system-wide initiatives and organizational structures that facilitate belonging and equity.
Serve as the college’s Affirmative Action officer and collaborate with the Office of Human Resources for diverse talent recruitment efforts, faculty, and staff satisfaction with respect to belonging and equity.
In collaboration with the Provost and Enrollment Office, ensure ongoing attention to student enrollment and retention needs, as it relates to Diversity, Equity and Belonging.
Assess efficacy and success of DEB programs, policies, and services.
Participate in preparing reports for presentation to leadership and the Board of Trustees and Campus Boards of Trustees.
Develop and administer diversity training, collaborate in the design of educational materials that enhance awareness of diversity and equity issues, and along with the Talent and Professional Development Team, facilitate initiatives designed to enhance the campus climate for faculty and staff of all backgrounds.
Represent the college at various community, civic, professional meetings, and conferences, as requested.
Partner with Marketing and Public Relations Departments to provide consistent DEB messages to the external and internal college community on DEB-related issues, programming, and initiatives.
Provide mentoring, support and resources to campus diversity, equity & belonging leads, and directors statewide.
Aid in event planning, management, and coordination for the Office of DEB.
Oversee and execute special projects, or assignments on an as-needed basis (such as sitting on hiring committees).

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements and professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
Must possess a minimum of three years of relevant work experience
Demonstrated ability to build relationships through community outreach and engagement.
Experience working with diverse community groups required.
Must have effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
Must be able and willing to travel on college business.
Must be able to work in a hybrid work environment - both in-person and online
Must demonstrate ability to promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued. in a higher education setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree or diversity certification.
Experience with equal employment/affirmative action compliance.
Experience with managing and interpreting data.
