The Business Honors Program at CSUF offers the best opportunities for high achieving business undergraduates, comparable to the top academic institutions of the country, through exclusive recruitment, professional development opportunities and a built-in networking base. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Business Honor Program Counselor (Student Services Professional I-Range B). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Under the general supervision of the Director for Business Honors program, the program counselor is responsible for providing academic advising and general guidance to students in the business honors program, and leads student committees to achieve their goals. Provides supervision to student assistant for administrative work. Provides support to the director in recruitment events and interview process. The program counselor maintains student database, and handles routine communication with students. With support from the Deans office, hires student workers for the office. Organizes mass communications, creates content, and updates website and social media accounts. Plans and coordinates program events including facilities reservations, purchase orders and payment processing, hosting, and facilitation. Manages the student recruitment campaign. The program counselor will also support general advising needs under the general supervision of the Director for Business Advising Center. Other duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration or a job-related field plus one year of experience in professional Student Services work at the entry trainee level. Specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Equivalent amounts of job-related, graduate level education may be substituted for the required experience. Working knowledge of the methods and problems of organization and program management. Working knowledge of research techniques, interview techniques, and the principles of individual and group behavior. Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, gather and analyze data, reason logically, draw valid conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations. Ability to present clear and concise information orally and in written reports. Ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures and activities and the overall organization. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
