ONLINE LEARNING IS LOOKING TO PAIR THIS POSITION WITH OTHER 2 POSITIONS FOR A TOTAL OF 1.0 FTE:
- TOSA, CURRICULUM SPECIALIST (.2 FTE)
- TOSA, DIFFERENTIATION SPECIALIST (.5 FTE)
SUMMARY
The Instructional Specialist will partner with schools and district leadership to ensure high quality learning happens for all MPS students. They will play a key role in enhancing student learning by supporting the Academic Priorities in MPS. The Instructinal Specialist will also serve as the MTSS Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
*Establishes developmentally appropriate instructional and behavioral expectations for students and communicates expectations to students and their families. *Creates lessons and learning environments that are safe, respectful, and interesting as well as multicultural/gender/ability fair. *Selects, adapts and individualizes materials appropriate for diverse student populations and skills. *Uses a variety of teaching strategies such as group work, lecture, mini lessons, exploration, questioning, discussion, and other cooperative teaching techniques. *Develops and maintains long range and daily instructional plans. *Teaches students the required curricula using strategies that foster thinking, reasoning, and problem solving. *Promotes problem solving, cooperative skills and conflict resolution strategies. *Responsible for providing coaching and mentoring supports to all teachers K-12
QUALIFICATIONS
*Valid Minnesota Teaching License *A minimum of 3-5 years of recent successful classroom experience with demonstrable student achievement results. *Master's Degree Preferred.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
*Expertise in designing, implementing, and differentiating standards based instruction to accelerate all students' achievement *Ability to use a range of quantitative and qualitative data to enhance all students' learning *Experience in and knowledge of equity principles and cultural competencies to deepen teachers' application of academic standards *Knowledge of the principles and practices of effective, research-based instruction sufficient to analyze, communicate, model, and assess elements of the teaching process *Knowledge of district mission, goals, programs, and curricular resources of **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. sufficient to support teachers and school sites *Strong interpersonal skills with adults and students *Ability to establish and maintain trustful, confidential and supportive relationships with teachers to help develop them as professionals *Ability to foster collegiality and community among teachers through professional development *Ability to encourage multiple perspectives and resolve conflicts as they occur *Knowledge of adult learning needs and processes and how to use coaching cycles to maximize growth *Proficiency with technology and technology systems *
General knowledge of Core Subject/Content in the areas of: Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, English, Advanced Placement Courses, and Electives such as Music, Art, Physical Education, Health, Media, and Career and Technical Education courses K-12.
