Job responsibilities:
The post is fixed term, with a provisional 10 PA job plan that is outlined in the Job description.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated anaesthetist who will join our busy department to provide emergency and elective work. The role is advertised for a Locum Consultant in General Anaesthesia with a special interest in Obstetrics working with in the Hospital Birth Centre, based at St Thomas hospital

This post does not include contributing to the anaesthesia On-call rota.
The post holder will be expected to participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.
In addition to clinical work, other experience in education, teaching and training, governance, leadership and research will be seen as a major advantage.

Person specification

Professional Qualifications

Essential criteria GMC specialist registration or within 6 months of being admitted to the GMC's specialist register in anaesthesia in approved training post.
Eligible for full UK GMC registration and a Licence to Practise
Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists or equivalent.
Appropriate Career progression to be applying for a Locum Consultant post to fit in with future plans and recent career path.
Desirable criteria Higher degree e.g. MD, MBA etc (recognised by the University of London)
Able to commence employment within one month of interview.
Clinical Experience

Essential criteria Comprehensive clinical experience in Anaesthesia equivalent to UK CCT
Desirable criteria Additional fellowships in specialist areas
Clinical Skills

Essential criteria Evidence of Life support course activity in the last 3 years
Evidence of Ability to work independently at consultant level
Desirable criteria Additional diplomas in specialist areas including Perioperative medicine, regional anaesthesia
Audit Management & IT

Essential criteria Understanding of principles of clinical audit
Desirable criteria Experience of leading audit, quality improvement programmes and effecting change.
Research. Teaching skill & experience

Essential criteria Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research.
Experience of teaching and training undergraduates, postgraduates and junior medical staff.
Desirable criteria Evidence of original research
