JOB OVERVIEW

The Vice Chair for Clinical Operations is the clinical leader for the Department of Internal Medicine. The Vice Chair represents the Department Chair and provides oversight to clinical operations that impact department services within UC Health and **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. Physicians (UCP). The Vice Chair works closely with faculty, clinical staff, UC Health and COM to ensure safe and effective care is provided to patients across all internal medicine sub-specialties.
Reports to: Chair, Department of Internal Medicine.
Positions accountable to this role: Associate clinical chairs, Medical Directors and Associate Medical Directors, Advance Practice Professionals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
*Build a team of associate clinical chairs who have overlapping/dual roles for quality, safety, diversity, inpatient, and outpatient care in both Internal Medicine and UC Health. *Successfully bridge clinical practice as measured by quality and safety metrics between Department and Veterans Administration Medical Center (VAMC). Work collaboratively with the Internal Medicine Vice Chair of VA. *Provide administrative oversight for all Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs) within the department. Establish standards for annual performance evaluations that includes measures of quality, compliance, safety and professionalism. Create opportunities for professional development for APPs within or outside of UC Physicians and together with UC Health. Reduce and maintain annual staff APP turnover rate. *Develop and direct outreach efforts in conjunction with UC Health in areas of GI, cardiology, endocrinology, pulmonary, rheumatology, and hematology-oncology. Other divisions may be added over time. *Develop innovative outpatient, non-hospital-based clinics and other clinical partnerships that build patient volumes and clinical revenue *Work with the UC Foundation to generate the blueprint of a grateful patient program and a philanthropy driven navigation program, and VIP medicine program. *Establishes and facilitates the development of the clinical vision and strategic plan for the department in collaboration with UC Health. *Ensure department efforts align with the COM and UC Health priorities. *Monitor all measures of clinical performance including quality, safety, satisfaction, access and efficacy. Create a culture of that establishes a standard of excellence and strives for continuous improvement with attention to metrics of highest priority. *With COM, Department and UCP leadership, manage the compliance and financial performance of the Department in all practice locations. Participate on the development of clinic operating budgets, as well as respond to monthly financial reports, productivity, and performance statistics. *Represent the Chair on clinical committees and task forces as requested.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
*MD or equivalent degree with an active clinical practice including clinical trial enrollment. *Previous clinical operations experience. *Performance improvement training . *Academic rank of Professor.
