The
CIRCLES Alliance
invites applications for a
Curricular Resources Library Director
(CRLD). The CRLD will oversee and manage all aspects of the Curricular Resources Library. The Curricular Resources Library Director reports to the Project Director and/or local Alliance Principal Investigator of the CIRCLES Alliance Project. In the CIRCLES Alliance office, the CRLD is often responsible for independently identifying and assessing important administrative duties and resolving them with the Project Director.
Position duties include, but are not limited to:
Development of middle school level science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) curricular materials based on Indigenous knowledges from multiple tribes within the Alliance and that address state and national K-12 standards in STEM, including the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Requires the cultural humility needed to work with tribal communities and tribal partners in identifying Indigenous STEM associated with each tribe.
Requires working with educational specialists and researchers both within and beyond the Alliance.
Organize and oversee a curriculum development, field-testing, and refinement process that involves current classroom teachers.
Recognize the importance of process of developing Indigenous based STEM curriculum as well as the product.
Development and maintenance of an online library of curricular resources.
Work with a web developer in posting curricular materials in a searchable, online database.
Include short video presentations of tribal community members to accompany the curricular materials.
Include teacher guide, instructional materials, and STEM professional development activities.
Maintain the website to ensure its usability.
Periodically review lesson plans for continued relevance, address national shifts in STEM practices, and update based on feedback from users.
Organize field testing of curriculum and activities.
Work with middle school teachers and tribal education specialists from the respective communities in implemented curriculum in the classroom.
Develop tools for reviewing and evaluating curricular materials from a culturally-situated perspective.
In collaboration with Alliance educational specialists, develop training tutorials for in-service and pre-service teachers on using the library.
Dissemination to the educational community.
Oversee presentations of curricular resources to the local community with teachers and students.
Identify opportunities to present results to communities, state meetings/conference, and national meetings/conferences.
Prepare manuscripts on results for the educational community.
The Curricular Resources Library Director has a high degree of independence in establishing priorities and executing the activities needed to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Curricular Resources Library. This position will supervise other staff, teachers, and/or students hired for the development and implementation of the Library.

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, Letter of Appointment and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

Salary for this position is a minimum of $60,000 per year with higher salaries commensurate with qualifications.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree in a STEM discipline and/or Education.
Experience in education (K-20).
Highly developed verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills.
Established leadership and management skills and the ability to oversee and guide complex, challenging tasks.
Excellent computer literacy and knowledge of word-processing programs, spreadsheets, visual communications.
Ability to perform complex tasks while often having to prioritize multiple projects.
Sound and strategic judgement necessary to make administrative decisions.
Knowledge and understanding of institutional policies and procedures and the federal regulatory environment.
Work experience indicative of abilities to prioritize, manage time to meet deadlines, and multi-task.
Demonstrated independence and initiative.
Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a wide-ranging group of individuals and organizations.
Knowledge and/or experience working with diverse groups.
Ability to travel.
Ability to relocate to one of the lead institutions of the Alliance (University of Montana, North Dakota State University, University of New Mexico, Central Wyoming College, Black Hills State University, or University of Idaho).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in curriculum development.
Research experience in the sciences, engineering, or STEM Education.
Experience as a K-12 teacher or K-12 administrator.
