Job Description
LEAD CURRICULUM TEACHER-Licensed
• Contribute to the development, coordination, implementation, and ongoing support and coaching of instruction for ELs.
• Provide leadership and program development while working closely with the ESL staff to improve instructional
practices in the ESL classroom.
• Update, discuss, and plan the upcoming areas of general and specific focus at each school, with each teacher, etc.
• Works with ESL staff to implement a coherent curriculum aligned with state and national standards.
• Promotes the use of consistent instructional framework and research-based strategies
• Develops and leads professional development to ESL teachers and content teachers
• Models instructional strategies for teachers and staff in the classroom
• Provides training and support for classroom teachers through the SIOP model
• Provides feedback to teachers and staff regarding implementation of SIOP
• Supports new teachers with scheduling, classroom resources, and instructional practices
• Participates in regular professional development to improve knowledge and skills
• Provides supports for school in the absence of an ESL teacher
• Researches resources and provides guidance on how to use those resources
Job Qualification
Minimum Degree Level:
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum Experience/Requirements:
Candidates should hold (or be eligible to hold) NC teaching license for ESL (K-12).
