Performs receptionist and support duties at the assigned unit; handles incoming and outgoing communications, transfers call appropriately, greets and assists visitors, answers questions in accordance with established procedures.
Maintains a neat and organized work environment; orders, stocks and replenishes supplies and equipment as necessary; identifies and reports problems with supplies or equipment; enters equipment repair requests in system, tags equipment and removes from service.
Maintains a safe work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital’s Safety, Risk Management, Regulatory Standards and infection prevention.
Provides general support activities for the unit.
Provides patient care within the Nursing Assistant’s scope of a practice.
Responds to patient calls, anticipates patient needs, and assures patient safety and comfort through regular rounds, environmental maintenance and other appropriate safety measures.
Records vital signs and intake and output when requested into the patient record and/or computer. Reports any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patients and any unusual incidents/problems.
Recognizes and responds to priorities in the patient care process; exercises good judgment in completing work duties; coordinates work to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency during the assigned shift; follows-up on matters requiring additional attention or reports exceptions to the appropriate person. Responds appropriately in emergency situations.
Hours: 6:30am to 7pm, every third weekend and rotating holidays.','!*!Education/Licensure
Required:
BLS or BLS instructor certification is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Red Cross: CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and American Heart Association: Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
Preferred: Six months experience in an acute care hospital or skilled care facility in the acute care area. One year of clerical work experience or related experience in a health care field and entry level computer experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of modern office principles, practices and equipment.
Knowledge of the spelling, meaning and usage of medical terminology.
Knowledge of, or ability to learn, procedures specific to the assigned work unit.

Ability to understand, apply and communicate routine to moderately complex verbal and written instructions.
Ability to learn and apply the Safety, Risk Management and Standard Precautions Standards of the work unit.
Ability to read, understand and communicate in English sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level.
