General Description
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Academic Learning Center on a specified campus. The Tutoring Center Services Coordinator works with all
ALC
staff to ensure effective delivery of tutorial services and works with the Director to develop areas of service and to maintain overall responsiveness of the Centers to student needs.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
Recruits, supervises, schedules and instructs peer, paraprofessional and professional tutors in consultation with the Director.
Assigns, supervises and coordinates mentors for new peer tutors.
Conducts and/or assigns evaluations of peer, paraprofessional and professional tutors, front desk and computer staff each semester.
Coordinates class visits and other outreach activities to encourage students to utilize tutoring.
Creates and maintains subject coverage schedules.
Provides tutoring as needed in areas of personal content specialty.
Prepares reports on the centers metrics as needed.
Manages staff payroll and serves as liaison with the Payroll department.
Handles the day-to-day center issues.
Represents the
ALC
at appropriate student, staff, faculty and administrative events and meetings.
Presents
CRLA
Training modules to tutoring staff throughout the semester.
Serves on College Governance committees, or other College committees, and attends appropriate departmental and divisional meetings as requested.
Works in conjunction with the different programs hosted in the assigned campus to ensure the delivery of tutoring services.
Participates in commencement events.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Director, Academic Learning Centers.
Education Requirements
Bachelors degree required, with preference in English, Allied Health or
STEM
disciplines.
Experience
Minimum of one-year teaching/tutoring experience
Competencies and Skills Required
Must have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with tutors, students, faculty and staff.
Must be able to work with a diverse student population.
Must demonstrate ability to perform in a supervisory capacity.
Must be familiar with
CANVAS
, or a similar Learning Management System, email, web authoring tools, graphic manipulation software, printers and scanners.
Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Access, Word, PowerPoint and Excel and be able to create databases, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations.
Must demonstrate ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to deal with frequent employee turnover.
Must be able to evaluate staffs performance.
Must be able to present workshops on various topics.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This positions duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
Some travel required.

Terms of Employment
Full Time. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off-campus sites as needed by the college. Mandatory overtime is required throughout the year, especially at peak times. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
