Non-Tenure Track position
65% Research and Academics
The Director will conduct both independent and collaborative research studies, primarily focusing in the areas of genomics, molecular biology, transcriptomics and epigenetics analyses. The Director will act as a collaborator on various research projects of our cohort both internal and external to the institution. Efforts in this area will also include presentations and publications of projects and findings.
5% Education and Training
The Director will be responsible for coursework as determined by the department.
30% Service
The Director of the IGB will manage the biorepository operations for the Biorepository and Integrative Genomics (BIG) Initiative, which includes oversight of: sample collection pipelines from multiple sites; sample distribution to investigators and collaborative partners; sample processing, archival storage, and tracking; clinical and research laboratory activities involving automated and semi-automated equipment systems; biorepository QA/QC, HIPAA compliance, and participant opt-out procedures; evaluation and introduction of new technologies, software, and workflow innovations into Biorepository operations, as needed; supervision and training of laboratory personnel; and supervision of applicable laboratory safety and other regulatory requirements.
In conjunction with the BIG Informatics Manager, the Director will manage the BIG laboratory information management system (LIMS); the BIG data management and distribution; BIG budget and purchasing management, budget forecasting and development; planning and oversight of BIG Initiative expansion to new sites; BIG Research Oversight Committee and BIG Ethics Committee administration; and will act as a BIG Advisory Board member.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Director will supervise technical and postdoctoral personnel for both the BIG core and her/his research.
DEPARTMENTAL PREFERENCES:
Biorepository and/or laboratory management (4 years);
Laboratory personnel supervision and training (4 years);
Automated sample/liquid handling and biospecimen extraction systems;
Automated high-throughput genomic analysis technologies (e.g., NextGen DNA sequencing, qPCR, ddPCR, and microarray systems);
Excel use and VBA macro development;
Computer programming (preferred but not required).
