Description:
Be part of the holistic student experience at the University of Plymouth in the Disability Services team in the Academic Registry directorate. The role sits within the Student Advice team which is part of the Student Services department. Through this team, we are streamlining access to student advice and support, delivering a service that allows students to receive specialist advice and skills from one team both online and on campus. You will be responsible for delivering customer focused, integrated, effective and progressive Specialist Study Skills for students in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSA), or for students identified as requiring equivalent support, working closely with the Specialist Study Skills team. The specialist study skills are tailored to individual requirements and designed to recognise and develop skills, and facilitate independent learning. You will have experience of delivering dyslexia/SpLD/ASC support to students in higher education and the ability to work co-jointly with students from across all subject areas to encourage them to take responsibility for their own learning. You will also need to be able to provide advice and guidance to students with SpLDs and ASC and understand the physical, mental and emotion challenges they may face. You must be a holder of an OCR level 5 or 7 (SpLD) qualification and an up-to-date certificate in the current NAS core modules. You will also have experience of working as a specialist SpLD tutor with post-16 and/or higher education students. You must also have quality assurance with either ADSHE or PATOSS, BDA or Dyslexia Guild and be, at least, an Associate Member of ADSHE. Please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the knowledge, qualifications, training and experience elements of the job description in your supporting statement. For an informal discussion to find out more about the role then please contact Debbie Fuge / Claire Chinnock by email at **** / ****.
