Overview
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and the African School of Economics (ASE) have an opening for an Associate Director to serve in a dynamic leadership role within the Pan-African Scientific Research Council (PASRC) and the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub Africa Initiative (EIH).
The PASRC promotes research, career development, and policy & public engagement among African and/or Africa-focused researchers and professionals. The Council’s thematic areas include social sciences, biomedical sciences, agricultural, energy, and environmental sciences, and applied mathematics, computer science, and statistics. The EIH will serve as an operationalization and implementation wing of the PASRC. Its goal will be to operationalize and commercialize research emerging from the PASRC, ASE, and its affiliates at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***..
Responsibilities
Outreach to researchers and prospective partner organizations for PASRC/general external and internal communications
Grant writing and donor outreach
Coordination and logistics management for conferences and special events for PASRC and EIH. This will include an annual conference gathering researchers, entrepreneurs, innovators, and other practitioners.
Creating a fellowship program for member-entrepreneurs to enable close interaction with researchers
Creating a platform that allows innovators and entrepreneurs from Africa, their peers from the US, and the PASRC research community to exchange ideas, experiences, and expertise and develop collaboration opportunities. Relatedly, facilitating research and development partnerships between US corporations and African startups and firms in technology, energy, biology and health sciences, and agriculture.
Support of ASE's general operations.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Three or more years of related experience
Outstanding communication skills both written and oral are essential as well as the ability to engage with a broad range of constituents.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree or a bachelor’s degree with relevant experience in research project management, financial management, partnership development, event planning, donor cultivation, and grant-writing.
