. This position is responsible for occupancy management for the residence halls (2300 beds) and back-up support to the University Villages and Lewis and Clark Village occupancy management. This position indirectly supervises one administrative assistant and a student employee. This position also provides guidance to residential education staff.
The Assistant Director of Assignments and Occupancy effectively works collaboratively with all UM Housing areas, as well as, Enterprise Information Systems (EIS), Business Services, International Programs, Campus Dining, UM Information Technology, and Enrollment Management to accomplish the strategic plan of UM Housing as it relates to occupancy management. The Assistant Director is responsible for the overall daily management of residence hall occupancy for prospective and current students, including management of the housing assignments, request for specific room accommodations, room moves, and waitlists.
The Assistant Director of Assignments and Occupancy provides leadership in the development of training sessions and materials and ongoing support for StarRez (the housing management system). This position also provides direction and feedback on occupancy and StarRez related processes at front and area desks, administrative functions, package tracking and reporting, procedures and policies, departmental policies/goals, and working with various tenant, residents, and staff groups.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
Assign meal plans and administers meal plan changes for residence hall students.
Update Onity software and provide reports and access to both residents and visitors via the Onity system.
Create and disseminate the majority of the communications and marketing materials that go out to current residents and incoming residents.
Design the UM Housing website. Serve as a member of the website team for UM Housing and the main content writer and editor for the website.
Collaborate with the Director of Fiscal and Facilities Operations to prepare reports.
Consult with other areas of the department to provide training and instruction on housing occupancy policy and procedures.
Create and present trainings.
Update and maintain rates in the Housing Management System.
Manage and develop applications within StarRez and processes in support of housing assignments.
Collaborates with the Director of Residential Education and Community Standards on housing assignments in relation to LLCs, staffing, and the overall residential education program.
Provide support to University Villages and Lewis and Clark Village. In the absence of the University Villages and/or Lewis and Clark Village Apartments Coordinator, position will provide direct oversight to the housing assignment process in consultation with the Director of Residential Education and Community Standards.
Establish, maintain, process and update electronic and paper files, records and documents.

Position Details
Position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, MUS Contract and includes a comprehensive and competitive benefits package

Salary for this position is $52,000 - $58,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications
One (1) year of full-time, professional experience is required.
Ability to develop and establish processes to meet occupancy management and customer service needs, including online services.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures while supporting a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
Ability to establish and maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with staff, students, guests, faculty and visitors at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.
Ability to access BANNER or other databases, spreadsheets, etc. for data viewing, collection and entry
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, SQL database, Photoshop or Illustrator
Knowledge and familiarity with web design software in particular a content management system
Ability to identify primary markets and to develop and use effective promotions, communications, and informational pieces in a variety of media and formats
Knowledge of message development for a variety of audiences to convey information, explain procedures, and clearly provide directions
Ability to design and create effective promotional and advertising materials
Ability to design and lead training sessions for staff in regards to policies, procedures, and various software that is utilized in the department.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree OR four (4) years of progressive and direct experience with occupancy management.
Understanding of living/learning communities.
Experience with building systems in support of occupancy management.
Experience in developing online services and forms.
Experience working with occupancy management, contracts and or leases.
Experience working with recruitment and training.
Experience working in university housing or other student life.
Experience with relational databases such as housing management systems and/or enterprise management.
ACUHO-I Certificate in Occupancy Management
Understanding of the principles and best practices of occupancy management
Demonstrated proficiency in creating reports using SQL
