Summary:
Provide appropriate level of assistance and leadership for
assigned staff in the department.
Perform testing following established technological standards and
practices. Provide direct care to
patients of all ages.

General Lab: Prefer
the education and experience equivalent to an MT(ASCP) and at least three years
laboratory experience with at least one year in the specific clinical
discipline. Pathology: Prefer the education and experience
equivalent to a HTL(ASCP) and at least three years laboratory experience in
histology or related discipline, or equivalent to an HT(ASCP) with 5 years
experience in Histology or related discipline.
Specific clinical training and experience may be substituted for
education/certifications and will be evaluated on an individual basis.
Adequate conversational English is required in order that
the individual be able to take direction from management, understand how to
complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workers as
necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and understand the
Associate Handbook and all hospital policies.
Working
Relationships:
The Supervisor is responsible to the section Manager and may
have supervisory responsibility over Medical Technologists, Medical Laboratory
Technicians, Histotechnologists, Histology Technicians, and Laboratory Support
Assistants. Is in daily contact with
coworkers, managers, pathologists, medical staff, and other patient care staff. May have contact with other members of the
Healthcare Delivery Team such as vendor representatives, physician offices, and
other facilities.
Physical Requirements
and Environmental Conditions:
Must be able to perform difficult manipulative
skills and tasks that require hand-eye coordination and arm-hand steadiness. Must be able to walk, stand extensively, lift
30 lbs., remain in uncomfortable positions for a long time, visually
discriminate close objects and far away objects and colors, and distinguish and
hear normal sounds. May be exposed to blood, body tissues and fluids, other
