JOB SUMMARY
The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences seeks applicants for a full-time position as an Educational Program Administrator for the Department of Literatures, Cultures, and Languages (LCL). Under the supervision of the LCL Department Head, the incumbent will help develop strategic goals for helping the Department meet its long-term objective at an operational level and supervise and refine the administrative operations of the Department. The Program Administrator will be responsible for the financial projections and budget requirements for a complex department. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising support staff and will be expected to work independently in managing day-to-day operations as they align with the Department's policies and procedures. They will consult with the Department Head when significant operational changes are being considered.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
Manages and is responsible for the effectiveness of administrative programs in designated areas of responsibility.
Assists in the planning, development, design implementation, and evaluation of activities to achieve program objectives.
Serves as an authoritative source of budget and fiscal information. Prepares, forecasts, and monitors departmental budget. Monitors and approves expenditures.
Ensures enrollments meet established guidelines. Establishes master schedule in conjunction with academic and fiscal guidelines.
Provides financial management and advice for potential and secured funds.
Ensures compliance with University and State of Connecticut rules, policies, and procedures regarding financial responsibilities.
Serves as a primary advisor regarding policies, long-range planning, strategies, and goals.
Provides hiring support and processes paperwork for new and hiring positions.
Engages in public relations and promotional activities. Facilitates and assists in planning meetings, conferences, and events.
Serves as a liaison between the program and other university offices, external organizations, and the public.
Processes scholarships and fellowships following university, state, and federal guidelines.
Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
Five years of related experience.
Supervisory experience and/or one year of experience serving as a senior team member or project lead.
Demonstrated problem-solving skills specifically related to budget preparation and management.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working in a higher education setting.
Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
Ability to work with diverse student, administrative, and faculty populations and provide a commitment to the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in an educational setting.
Excellent computer skills including experience with Microsoft programs.
