The Graduate School Office is seeking to hire a Graduate Student to support staff in managing the Preparing Future Faculty certificate program. Full-time graduate students with strong project management and communication skills (both written and oral) are welcome to apply. Applicants must upload a cover letter for full consideration. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required. Preference will be given to students with an interest in teaching and/or teaching experience. Applicants must be available to start in fall semester 2020.
The graduate student will work closely with Graduate School staff and UC faculty associated with the Preparing Future Faculty program. Job duties include:
*Correspond with potential and current PFF students *Develop and schedule reading groups *Maintain a list of PFF-accepted workshops *Track students’ progress through the program *Plan and organize PFF events and the end of the year award luncheon *Work with PFF coordinators at other colleges to identify potential mentors for PFF students *Maintain the PFF web pages under the Graduate School’s website (web content management training will be provided) *Other duties as assigned by Graduate School staff
There will also be some limited office work for the Graduate School Office, which includes answering the front desk phone and assisting with Graduate School events. The position is 20 hours per week, and runs from August 2020 through April 2021, with the option to work Summer 2021.
Compensation includes stipend (paid biweekly) and a full-time Graduate Assistantship Scholarship. Furthermore, the student appointed to this position will be considered for a renewal of the assistantship in the subsequent academic year, providing the student demonstrates satisfactory job performance and continues to meet the eligibility regulations outlined below and in the Graduate School Handbook.

Potential applicants should note the following graduate assistantship regulations:
Students must not exceed the maximum accrued credit hour limit for univerisyt awards (174 graduate semester credit hours, or 140 for students with a master’s from another institution) within the appointment period.
Graduate assistants are required to register for at least 12 credit hours in Fall and Spring semesters.
Graduate assistants can be obligated to no more than 20 hours of service per week when school is in session.
Students need to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or their program minimum GPA (whichever is higher) to continue to be eligible for an award.
The student appointed to this position may be eligible for GSHI Award A, which offsets in part the cost of the University Health Insurance premium in the Fall and Spring Semesters.
Minimum Requirements:
*Must be registered for at least twelve graduate credit hours each quarter of the academic year. *Must meet eligibility criteria published by graduate programs that make awards and appointments.
Please note that students ineligible to receive the award for the full appointment period due to the number of earned credit hours based on the university requirements for awards rule will not be considered.
