Position duties will include teaching a variety of Medical Laboratory education. Additional responsibilities will include preparing relevant teaching and assessment materials, engaging and advising students, writing syllabi with course expectations and objectives, timely grading course work, submitting required reports, participating in college and community responsibilities. Applicants must be willing to teach day and/or evening courses. Faculty member will also engage in general college responsibilities within and outside the division.
Faculty are expected to demonstrate quality teaching by:
Clearly communicating to students at the beginning of a course what they are to learn (course descriptions, syllabi, the grading system, and the learning objectives, attendance policy etc.).
Promoting effective student learning through assignments and class activities including the use of a variety of instructional techniques designed to meet student needs, promoting active and independent learning, and promoting higher-order thinking.
Holding classes at the scheduled time for the full period, except for emergency situations.
Maintaining accurate attendance scholastic records and submitting required reports to meet deadlines, including submission of final grades by the published deadline.
Requirements:
Candidates must have the minimum of a graduate degree compatible with academia and/or profession. Current licensure / certification / professional qualifications – MT (ASCP) or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have community college teaching experience, experience incorporating technology effectively into classroom and/or laboratory instruction, and ability to coordinate with and mentor adjunct faculty.
The preferred candidate will also have experience teaching online courses.
