Description:
Due to the successful growth of our portfolio at pre and post registration, we are now seeking to appoint a Teaching and Research Associate (TARA) for the second time in Occupational Therapy to join the School of Health professions. We offer a range of programmes delivered in bespoke facilities as well as a growing reputation in learning, teaching, and research with excellent student feedback ratings. You will have expertise and experience in occupational therapy and an interest in developing your research profile at doctoral level alongside a teaching role as part of the academic team. You will assist in the delivery of health and care professions education to both undergraduate and post graduate learners for 0.6 of the time. This involves facilitating face to face and online teaching, including workshops and seminars, as well as assisting in the preparation of teaching materials for modules under the direction of senior academic staff. The research element will be scheduled for the other 0.4 and will be registered with, and supervised by, academic colleagues from the University of Plymouth. This post will particularly suit an occupational therapist with relevant experience across the professional spectrum. The fees for doctoral study will be met by the School of Health Professions. You will already hold a Masters or post graduate award in a relevant subject or an Honours award with a BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy at a 2:1 or 1st class level. You will have an active interest in developing a teaching role. You will be a team player who wants to work as part of an experienced and dedicated group of colleagues. You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills and be able to work under pressure on a major academic study alongside a teaching workload. You will be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council or be eligible for registration. Research Project Information: The project will be developed collaboratively with service users and stakeholders, which is a strength of our existing work. The area of specialism could vary according to your professional practice interests, however, it should complement our existing programme of research. Our research focuses on enhancing the evidence base in relation to health promoting, occupation-focussed interventions with individuals and their caregivers. Some examples of PhD topics which the successful applicant could further develop include: Development of interventions within the scope of occupational therapy practice to support caregivers of patients with younger onset long-term conditions The use of digital technology amongst younger spousal dyads (individuals and caregivers) to self-manage long term illness Contact for informal discussion: Dr Miriam Noonan, Lecturer in Occupational Therapy **** **** ****or Dr Alison Warren, Associate Professor, Academic lead and Lecturer in Occupational Therapy (****, ****) ****This is a part-time post working 22.20 hours per week (0.6 FTE) plus 0.4 FTE for fee supported doctoral study on a fixed-term basis for 5 years.
