The responsibilities of the CORE instructors are to provide an opportunity for individuals with developmental disabilities to participate in classes that provide learning plans addressing the interests and needs of the individuals as well as a nurturing environment in which the adults can participate with other members of the college community. Instructors provide classroom lessons that support increased self-esteem and enhance skills that are needed to increase independence, participate in community experiences to enhance independent living experiences, and participate in health and wellness which promote fitness and healthy lifestyle.
Requirements:
•Master’s degree in related field is desired
•Teaching experience with adults with developmental disabilities
•Skills and the ability to work cooperatively as a team member and to interact effectively with students/parents/caregivers
•Excellent organizational, planning and administrative skills
•Demonstrated leadership ability
•Experience in curriculum and instructional planning
•Excellent classroom management skills
•A general understanding of the structure within the Continuing Education division.
Prefer prior teaching experience.
