The mission of the Universitys Safe Campus program, launched in 2007, is to help prevent and address violence that affects members of the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. community. The program focuses on direct support of individuals, triage of situations, threat assessment, and outreach and prevention education. In 2016, SafeCampus became the UWs designated central intake for Title IX sexual misconduct related incidents.


The Prevention, Education, & Communications Manager
directs all SafeCampus outreach and prevention efforts, including marketing and communications (SafeCampus website, online and print resource materials, content for news articles), developing and delivering education/training for staff, faculty and students, and supervising SafeCampus staff and student employees in their outreach and prevention duties. Additionally, this position oversees programmatic data analysis and development of reports for distribution to UW leadership, Compliance Services and Board of Regents.


The SafeCampus program is part of UW Human Resources and serves as the central hub for violence prevention efforts and Title IX related sexual misconduct intake across all UW campuses, medical centers, and places of business or study. The SafeCampus Prevention, Education, & Communications Manager will collaborate with partners (e.g., Student Life, UWPD, Title IX) and leadership across all three campuses to support awareness, implementation and adoption of workplace violence and Title IX response/intake protocols, as well as support development of tailored prevention strategies.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage all SafeCampus prevention/education/training for the UW community:
Responsible for planning, marketing and delivering a violence prevention training to diverse and complex audiences.

Develop innovative, tailored programming through new and existing university collaborations (e.g. EPIC, Title IX education)

Interface with tri-campus and UW Medicine leadership to support implementation of UW response protocols and training

Understand and respond to needs to adjust messaging and communications in response to emergent situations or priorities


Supervision and mentoring:
Supervise EPIC program staff (three .2 FTE graduate students and two .2 FTE postdoctoral scholar)

Guide and oversee the development of the EPIC program

Supervision of the prevention work of the response specialist and training specialists


Oversight of programmatic data analysis and development of reports:
To be distributed to UW leadership, Compliance Services and Board of Regents


Campus leadership and community partnerships:
Serve as a content expert on best practices for UW community members engaging in violence prevention & education efforts

Consult on Title IX related projects including strategic priorities, standardization of training practices, policy/protocol implementation, and written materials

Represent the University in an official capacity on taskforces, community collaborations, and public forums


Other:
Coordinate marketing efforts and development of web content

Remain current on potential impacts and implementation of state and federal regulations and pending legislation

Continuing education and new research scholarship related to best practices in violence prevention and response


REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in public administration, marketing or related field and four years of progressively responsible related work experience.

Proven experience creating innovative violence prevention programming for a large, multifaceted institution.

Leadership experience in programmatic creation and development paired with supervising or directing the work of others.

Demonstrated strong oral and written communications skills.

Demonstrated experience in effectively presenting programmatic information in public presentations.

Ability to work collaboratively with multiple campus and community organizations.

Record of strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to document and update program policies, procedures, and materials.

Demonstrated research and analytical skills.

Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively, as a part of a team, with individuals and groups of diverse cultures, ethnic and social backgrounds, values and attitudes.

Ability to respond with empathy and support to individuals of diverse cultures, ethnic and social backgrounds, values, attitudes, and languages in order to provide programmatically accurate information.

Must maintain strict confidentiality


Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED:
Masters' degree in a related field.

Familiarity with violence prevention and response-related UW programs and services.

Experience providing services at the college level with diverse populations.

Direct experience with victim services in the areas of power-based violence and Title IX (sexual assault, relationship violence, stalking, sexual harassment, and/or sexual exploitation).
