The Academic Section is part of the University's Professional Services and is headed by the Academic Registrar. The Section is responsible for managing all aspects of student and academic administration and plays a central role in delivering the University's commitment to excellence in education across the institution. 
Duties of the Role
This is a leadership opportunity for a senior, professional and enthusiastic individual to lead and manage the Student Progress Team, developing policy and practice, and ensuring effective management of student casework and the student record.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership for a key aspect of the academic life of the University that has a direct impact on the student experience. Supported by a team of managers, you will be responsible for the implementation, development and review of policy and process across a range of student procedures including appeals, complaints, student conduct, academic misconduct, student engagement and fitness to practise. You will lead on improvements and developments covering student casework, student engagement and the student record. The role will involve effective partnership working with a wide range of internal stakeholders, as well as keeping informed of sector developments. You will ensure that the team contributes to the overall goal of supporting student success and delivering an excellent student experience.
You will be a manager with a successful track record of leading and managing teams, and of service delivery and enhancement. You will have experience both of policy development and implementation; and of operational delivery of services.

Qualifications and skills required
You will have leadership and organisational skills and will have a track record of managing effectively across a range of responsibilities and multiple priorities, in a fast-paced environment. You will be a clear thinker and able to provide authoritative advice across a range of policy areas.
Your professional experience will enable you to provide effective management support and leadership to a team that develops and applies policy and processes to individual student cases, and you will lead and advise on complex cases. You will bring a perspective that is focused on supporting individual students, and ensuring that the work of the team contributes to creating a safe and inclusive University community and supports student success.
You will have a proven ability to lead and motivate individuals and teams and will be an excellent communicator. Your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to establish productive working relationships with a wide range of people.
