The Student Success Advisers responsibilities include academic, personal, career and financial aid advisement; the overall monitoring of assigned caseload; assisting EOP students in all phases of collegiate life and designing programs to meet caseload needs and maximize student potential for attaining and maintaining academic success. The Student Success Adviser will also work with students on an action plan that earn below a 2.75 GPA in semester or cumulative GPA.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Advise assigned caseload on academic requirements, course sequencing, 4-year graduation plans, financial aid requirements, pre-registration/registration, and career goals. The Student Success Adviser will also determine any academic, financial and or social for his or her caseload.
The Student Success Adviser will have bi-weekly advising appointments with students on an Action Plan. Action Plan consists of students with semester or cumulative GPA below a 2.75.
he Student Success Adviser will track student’s financial aid verification status for both federal & state level. If a student is chosen for verification, the SDS will work with financial aid and the student to make sure verification is complete.
The Student Success Adviser will maintain accurate records and files related to their respective caseload and generate reports upon request. Some examples include, but are not limited to: Student ID numbers, first and last name, Action Plan notes, semester and yearly GPA, class year, retention, graduation rates, etc... Files may be kept electronically in an excel file.
The Student Success Adviser will host and implement various workshops throughout the academic year. The Student Success Adviser is also responsible for teaching a 6 week summer enrichment course offered by the University and EOP
Required Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Counseling or a related discipline.
At least one year of professional experience in college level academic counseling, career counseling and/or financial advisement.
At least one year of EOF, HEOP, TRIO, Upward Bound, Student Support Services
