Assistant Director of Human Resources

, Burlington School District is looking for an experienced Human Resources Professional who has a proven track record in the tactical application of Human Resources for the role of Assistant Director Human Resources. This new role is a direct report to the Director of Human Resources and will work to support daily operations and on both strategic and sensitive work issues. This new role is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable and experienced HR Generalist or Specialist to broaden the scope of their work while supporting the Director of Human Resources with the tactical day-to-day functions by providing hands-on guidance and ensuring compliance on recruitment, onboarding, benefits & wellness, and payroll issues related to approved employee leaves.
This role requires the person to work collaboratively within the HR Team and may require the person to step in to provide additional HR supports. This role works across all divisions of the school district and should be able to provide confidential excellent customer service and timely responses to inquiries. This role is required to stay vigilant on changes to HR compliance issues with federal and state laws and regulations such as FMLA, ADA, EEOC, and WC.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
Eight or more years of HR-related knowledge and experience and/or training, including supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of three years of FMLA administration.
Experience working for a Vermont Public School preferred
Good communication skills, including the ability to listen effectively and to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints; and to deliver well-organized and effective presentations to employee groups.
Ability to work with intermediate mathematical concepts, including percentages, ratios, and statistical inference.
Computer literacy in all MS Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to implement HRIS programs.
SPHR, PHR or SHRM certification preferred
