which houses the BA in Music (Performance and Music Education Pre-Certification), BS in Music Recording Technology, BS in Audio Production, BA in Theatre (Performance and Technical Theatre) is seeking to fill a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2023.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate must be committed to providing support to the department through accompaniment on piano and other keyboard instruments. The MAPA Accompanist also works closely with applied faculty to provide regular accompanying duties during rehearsals and performances that may occur during and outside of the regular school day. The MAPA Accompanist will also assist with teaching courses in Humanities and demonstrates strong technical and musical piano skills as a soloist and accompanist. The MAPA accompanist must be able to play proficiently in the gospel style, improvise, play by ear, sight-read, and play all standard classical repertoire. Works collaboratively with all the performance ensembles. Accompanies ensembles in a variety of settings (e.g., rehearsals, concerts, university convocations, annual spring recruitment tour, and holiday concerts, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring professional musical support for the department. Must also be available for weekend run-out performances and occasional Sunday services.

Analyzes and learns multiple pieces of assigned music per semester and prior to rehearsal and Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in Collaborative Piano, Performance, or another closely related area from an accredited college or university. At least one year of accompanying experience. Preferred qualifications are a DMA, DA, DM in Collaborative Piano, or Performance with 2-5 years of accompanying experience. Experience in research, creative productivity, and grantsmanship.
