Profile

Champlain Elementary School, in the Burlington School District seeks an elementary educator for a long term substitute teaching positiion.

This anticipated position begins in August 2023, and will likely conclude in December 2023.

The Burlington School District believes a diverse and culturally proficient faculty and staff are pivotal to the creation of a strong learning environment free of inequities. Accordingly, the Burlington School District's goal is to provide every student with an educational experience enhanced by the professional contributions of culturally competent representatives of different races, ethnicity, gender, physical ability, age, and sexual preference. The Burlington School District is accepting early applications for their lower and upper elementary classroom teachers. The interviewing process will not begin until an actual opening occurs in a specific school. By allowing for early applications, the district is prepared to move quickly to hire the most qualified, diverse, and culturally competent faculty. Please make sure you provide clear evidence of the following criteria in your application.

Explain in detail in your COVER LETTER any of the following criteria listed in BOLD.

Required:

• In “Certifications” section note the following (if pending, please indicate):

o Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.

o Endorsement in the subject area or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.

o Documented NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher status.

• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

• THREE Letters of Recommendation and transcripts uploaded to SchoolSpring

• Understanding of Cultural Competency (As explained through Essay 1)

• School experience at the elementary level

• Familiarity with integrated technology as a learning tool

• Knowledge of best practices regarding student management protocols

• Knowledge of elementary research based best practices

• For the Sustainability Academy: Addresses the value of sustainability in education and/or

has a background/training in sustainability (As explained in Essay Question 3).

• For Integrated Arts Academy: Evidence of arts focus, training, or background (As

explained in Essay Question 4.)

Preferred:

• Training and experience with English Language Learners

• Evidence of strong connection with students and families.

• Experience in a professional/teaching learning community

• Knowledge of assessments and use of data to inform instruction

• Experience in implementing inclusive practices

• Strong communication skills as evidenced through quality of resume and cover letter

• Ongoing educational coursework

• For Integrated Arts Academy: Addresses the value of arts integration and arts in

education (As explained in Essay 4).
