Position Summary
The College of Arts & Letters at Michigan State University seeks an Academic Programs Manager to support the curriculum development, administrative and outreach efforts of our programs, specifically support for the Holocaust and Genocide Collaborative, Graduate Pedagogy Initiative, and Graduate Certificate Programs currently in development.
This is a full-time, renewable fixed-term 12-month position in the academic specialist system starting in July 2023 for an initial period of three years. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator who is extremely well organized.
The Academic Programs Manager will work with faculty colleagues to develop and disseminate curricular components of these programs, teach courses, develop action plans, timelines, and implementation strategies, work with campus administrators to ensure the effective rollout of these programs and to conduct outreach work on behalf of the programs.
The successful candidate will have an advanced degree in an arts or humanities discipline, experience working in higher education, managing projects, working with stakeholders across all levels of a widely diverse and complex organization, teaching in a university classroom, leading an academic program within a university setting, and excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Specific job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Collaborate with faculty colleagues to develop courses and academic programming for programs in the College of Arts and Letters
Develop and teach courses in Graduate Certificate programs
Work closely with College and Program administrators to ensure successful rollout of programs and initiatives
Create project plans, monitor progress and performance against the project plan and identify, resolve or escalate risks
Manage and align diverse perspectives and relationships, including deans, faculty partners, external partners and collaborators, and other MSU stakeholders while utilizing a balance of relationship management, creative problem solving and risk management to ensure project success
Create and implement comprehensive project and curricular plans, including schedules, resources, deliverables, and measures of success
Organize, schedule, and lead strategic meetings, brainstorming sessions and events to move academic programs forward
Set priorities, allocate tasks, and collaborate with project faculty and staff to meet program targets and milestones
Contribute to on-campus and external outreach activities with respect to active programs and projects they are working with
Assume ownership of project success, providing dedicated leadership and seek support as needed.

MA/MS required.
1 years of experience working in an academic environment (leadership experience preferred)
Ability to work independently and collaborate with an interdisciplinary, cross-institutional team.

Ph.D. or MFA
