KINDERGARTEN PARAEDUCATOR

Long Term Substitute

DESCRIPTION:

This position is open immediately and will last through the end of the 2021-2022 school year. To assist professionals in supplying individualized instruction to Kindergarten students in classrooms and small group environments. To facilitate and supplement the educational process under the direction of a professional staff member. Responsibilities include communication facilitation, carrying out programs designed by the teaching staff, managing behavior, teaching self regulation skills, and supporting and facilitating social engagement with peers. Physical responsibilities include lifting, carrying, personal care, and the ability to assess a situation and respond quickly.

The Sustainability Academy is the country's first elementary school focused entirely on Education for Sustainability, located in the Old North End of Burlington, Vermont. At SA, we define sustainability as the shared responsibility for improving the quality of life for all—economically, socially, and environmentally—now and for future generations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications include but not limited to: high school diploma plus at least 2 years additional education; minimum of two years experience in education or related field; ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with students, parents and school staff.
