is within the School of Liberal Arts and Education (SLAE) andcurrently houses the BA in Psychology, BA in Psychology– Pre-Medical Track ,
BA in Psychology-Black Family Studies Track (in development), and the MA in Psychology with a Certification in either Family Studies or Black Masculinity (relaunching). The Department seeking to fill a full-time faculty position at Assistant Professor Level beginning Spring 2023/Fall 2023.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be committed to teaching undergraduate courses such as Physiological Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Introduction to Psychology, History of Psychology, and other courses within the candidate’s specialty (preference will be given to persons who have specialties in sports psychology, forensic psychology, neuropsychology, developmental psychology, and identity politics).
- Teach 4 courses per semester.
- Advise psychology majors and hold weekly Office Hours.
- Contribute to the scholarly advancement of the department through a productive research agenda that includes grantsmanship and consistent publishing
- Various service activities (e.g., committee work on the departmental and university levels).
- Comply with HU Faculty Handbook processes and policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates must have an earned doctorate in Psychology in the following specialties from an accredited university/program: Experimental, Cognitive, Neuropsychology, Developmental Psychology, and Forensic Psychology. Experience in and evidence of successful teaching in a university setting (both undergraduate and graduate levels) is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in research, grantsmanship, and student mentorship (i.e. advisor of psychology clubs). Rank and compensation are commensurate with credentials and experience.
