Job Description:
Reporting to the Director of the Center for Accessibility and Inclusive Education, the position will assist in the coordination for services for students registered with the CAIE. The position supports the integration of services for students with disabilities into the college community, and serves as a resource for constituents that rely on the center for information.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Works to support the Director and Assistant Director of Center for Accessibility and Inclusive Education with daily operational responsibilities for the Department.
Coordinates accommodations for students including notetaking services, alternate format books, reader/scribe requests, and assistive technology including maintaining accurate records of rental equipment and requests.
Receives walk-in visitors and telephone inquiries and responds knowledgeably to questions concerning programs and services offered at RVCC, and makes appropriate referrals when necessary.
Completes intake appointments for students seeking academic accommodations.
Assists students with setting academic goals and developing time management and study skills.
Maintains highly sensitive and confidential reports and correspondence of records and documentation.
Works to support the Director and Assistant Director of Center for Accessibility and Inclusive Education with daily operational responsibilities for the Department.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Education or related discipline.
Basic knowledge of Section 504 and ADA.
Demonstrated experience in providing student support in a college setting.
Excellent Communication skills.
Willingness to learn and work to support student success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree preferred.
One year of experience in learning assistance and/or disability services in a college setting.
