Job Goal:
In May, SHS administers the AP exams and is looking for exam proctors. Additionally, throughout the year, there is sometimes a need for SAT proctors for individuals or groups of students.
SAT and AP Proctors are responsible for distributing exam materials, following exam instructions, closely monitoring exams to ensure all protocol is followed. Proctors should be organized, comfortable speaking in front of students, and have strong attention to detail. All exam proctoring and the training will happen at Somerville High School.
Requirements:
Must be responsible adults; they may not be high school students.
May not be employed part or full time at a test preparation company.
May not participate in any coaching activity that addresses the content of secure College Board tests.
Responsibilities:
•Attend proctor training (time/date of training dependent on exam date, individual trainings can be arranged according to proctor’s schedule).
•Monitor exam security.
•Proctor exams according to the official instructions including: distributing exams, reading instructions, monitoring students, collecting and counting exams, keeping exam materials secure until returning them to the SHS staff person responsible for the exam.
•Contact SHS staff coordinating the exam immediately for any concerns during the exam.

SAT exams take place throughout the year. SAT exams typically start at 7:30am and end beweeen 12:30-3:00pm.
AP exams take place throughout the month of May.
For AP Exams, proctors need to be available for either the 7:30am-12:30pm morning exam, 11:30am-3:30pm afternoon exam, or for the entire 7:30am-3:30pm period.
Proctors do not need to be available and may not be scheduled for every day of testing.
